Essen/Bonn, 08 May 2019: The construction cranes are already turning on Sebastianstraße in Bonn-Endenich in direct proximity to the historic Schumann House. Residential developer Instone Real Estate has received all of the building permits for the innovative "Schumanns Höhe" residential project and has already begun the underground construction. Together with Federal City of Bonn's First Mayor Reinhard Limbach and representatives of the partner companies, the foundation stone was laid yesterday, Tuesday.
"Schumanns Höhe" stands out particularly due to the residential project's heterogeneous concept of use as well as the multigenerational design of the neighbourhood development. Stefan Dahlmanns, managing director of the Instone subsidiary in North Rhine-Westphalia, says: "There are only a few neighbourhood developments in Germany that offer such a wide range of various housing types – from classic condominiums to multigenerational housing and a community care facility. Based on an intensive process of planning and dialogue, we are creating a project with significant added value for all citizens of Endenich."
Reinhard Limbach, first mayor of the city of Bonn, says: "The foundation stone has been laid for the residential project, which is groundbreaking with its wide range of services for diverse target groups. An urban development contract provides security here and takes a wide range of interests into account."
More than 200 apartments will be built on three building sites over the coming years. With the "west.side" project, Instone is currently building another large-scale project in Bonn.
The western German city on the Rhine shows dynamic growth in population. Since 2011 the number of residents has grown by 4.6 percent; current forecasts anticipate another increase of approximately seven percent by 2040. The greater incorporation of older target groups in planning residential neighbourhoods is also supported by statistics. In 2040 around a quarter of the population of Bonn will be over 64 years of age. (Source: Kampmeyer Immobilienmarktbericht Bonn 2018/Statistical Office, Bonn).
