Munich’s Commissioner of Urban Development Visits Instone Project “Therese” in the Maxvorstadt District

Essen/Munich, 05 April 2019: Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Merk, Munich’s Commissioner of Urban Development, followed Instone Real Estate’s invitation to view the company’s new-build construction project “Therese” yesterday. The event focused on the subject of “infill densification in the inner city.” The “Therese” quarter is considered a model project for successful inner-city development. Eight new residential buildings are created at the former production site of Arri AG. The planning design for the buildings is inspired by the courtyard structure typical for the Maxvorstadt sub-district. Building and outside facilities are nearing their completion. Its first residents will move into the quarters in summer 2019.

Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Merk commented: “Revitalising the former ARRI compound through the Therese project is a good example for ways in which contemporary architecture can invest a historically grown quarter with new impulses. This urban component with its wellproportioned dimensions represents a successful contribution to the building culture and housing development in a densely built-up urban quarter.”

Joachim Häsler, Head of Instone’s Bavaria Branch, said: “We chose Maxvorstadt for the implementation of a showpiece project for in-fill densification in central locations. We are delighted to have the Commissioner of Urban Development, Prof. Dr. Merk, with us today. Her presence underlines our great collaboration with the City of Munich. At the same time, the keen demand confirms the appeal of our neighbourhood concept and of newly developed residential accommodation in the heart of Munich’s campus district.”

A total of 117 condominiums of various floor plans and sizes are being developed, along with 160 parking spots, on a plot of around 6,500 square metres. Most of the flats face the quiet inner courtyard. The local architectural firm of Palais Mai Architekten was commissioned to provide the architectonic design. While the Munich-based architectural firm of Palais Mai Architekten was contracted to design the architecture, the grounds design was awarded to the landscape architects of Grabner Guber Lipp from Freising.
